Coupons are probably one of the most popular ways to save money. Digital or paper coupons are used to take money off of a certain item or the total on an order.
I’m not saying you need to go extreme here, but if you have loyalty programs that allow you to clip coupons for your most popular purchases, I highly recommend doing so. That’s the convenient thing about couponing, you can go as crazy as you want.
Some people literally make a job out of couponing and saving their families money. They have a big stash of items (typically hygiene items, laundry detergent, etc.) that they get for super cheap. However, with the conception of digital coupons, paper couponing is becoming much harder (if not impossible) at certain stores. Digital coupons are often used through a store’s specific app. It’s not unusual to only be able to use these coupons once though, instead of being able to print more and get multiple items using coupons. There are still some paper coupons out there, sometimes even attached to a box! One of our stores also prints coupons related to your account or will mail them to us on occasion. You can even get manufacturer coupons sometimes if you reach out to companies. I did this recently (to pay a compliment) to a company in regard to their diapers and wipes and they sent me coupons in the mail!
I was recently talking to a family member about the loyalty program at the grocery store we both use the most often. They told me that they don’t use the program anymore, as it requires them to sit down and “clip” the coupons and she just doesn’t do that anymore. I encouraged her and her spouse to consider it. The program also helps you see how much money you’ve saved during the year. At the time of this writing in late July, I’ve saved $783 from digital coupons, paper coupons, and their weekly sales. That’s a lot of money!
There are different ways to obtain coupons, whether through a loyalty program specific to one store, through the newspaper, or online. Sometimes all it takes is emailing a company a compliment or simply asking for coupons. I’ve even seen people leave coupons they don’t need behind at the store. In this day and age, we all need to save money, so it’s nice to help others do so too!
What are you favorite companies to receive coupons for? For our family, any money saved on diapers and wipes is a big win! Let me know your thoughts below!
