The best way to ensure you’re saving as much money as possible is to know the rules of the store you’re shopping at! Some stores don’t allow you to stack coupons. Some don’t allow paper coupons. Some allow you to use one store coupon and one manufacturer coupon on the same item. Knowing these rules will help you shop smarter and save more money.
One of the stores that I frequently shop at often has multiple coupons that can come off an item. I have to pay attention because if I clip all the coupons, sometimes the lowest one comes off and the higher amount coupon won’t attach. I like to sometimes add them to my online cart and combine different items to see which will give me the best deal and save the most money.
Another one of the biggest tips I’ve seen from other couponers is not to be afraid of shopping at the dollar store! Now, the dollar store can actually be more expensive than other stores, so you need to pay attention and know your prices. However, they often have some of the best coupons. I’ve seen $10 off $25 before, although the $5 off $25 is more common. If you combine that with manufacturing coupons, you can have a much lower out of pocket!
If you frequent certain stores, sign up for rewards programs! Sometimes they’ll send personalized coupons! Those can be huge money savers!
Learn your stores clearance/mark down schedule! You can also learn where your store often puts these items. Simply ask someone who works there. Clearance/mark down items can save a lot of money! Just make sure the food is still good if you purchase that!
Know which items you can save big on! Items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, laundry detergent, dish soap, deodorant and feminine hygiene products can often be purchased for very little (especially if you’re not picky on brand). Compare different stores and pay attention to the coupons!
Also remember- shop sales and pay attention to sales ads! These can also save money. Money saved here can be used to pay down debt or can be saved for other expenses!
