Just as adults like to be entertained, so do kids! However, most parents don’t want their children becoming addicting to screens, so they look for other ways to help their children use their imagination and learn.

For example, did you know that Lego has a quarterly magazine designed just for kids? And – it’s totally free! You just go to the lego website and you can subscribe your kids for a free lego magazine that comes four times a year! You can even sign up multiple children! My nephew loves building with lego and I did this for him recently – I’m excited for him to see the first one when it gets to his house!

If your children enjoy reading, there is also Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! This program is also free, and it sends books to your children once a month! It’s not available in every area – but it’s worth looking into for your pre-school aged children! We got one of these books through a little free library. It is one of my favorite books to read to my daughter. It’s called In Our Garden, by Pat Zietlow Miller. Such a cute read!

Not all companies have free subscriptions, but there are still affordable and fun options for kids too. National Geographic for kids and Highlights for Children are more fun options! If you have a magazine that one of your children’s particularly enjoys – you can also ask family members to renew that for your child’s birthday each year. It’s a great way for your kids to receive mail, grow their imagination, and not bring too much stuff into your home!
